Several fun things happened this week, even though I think I was even more busy than I have been since arriving at Tech. I wanted to share some of these because we always need a reminder of the little things in life that make us happy. I hope you take a moment to think back to your week and see some totally random moment that made you incredibly happy…
My brother came to town
You know how when you were little, you would fight with siblings? Well, my brothers (2) and I used to fight pretty much until I left for college. Then something magical happened: we grew up and discovered how to have fight-less fun! My brother who actually came to Tech for his undergrad visited this past weekend. We had a blast!
I geeked out with another social media nerd
Like the rest of the real world, when I say anything about twitter, most people in my program give me a blank stare. I tell them to just smile and nod. So when a classmate introduced me to her friend who works at a digital services agency IN Blacksburg, we totally started exchanging handles, talked about blogging, and pretty much did the happy social media dance…while the rest of the table again, gave us blank stares.
I finally got two tricky things learned
You can’t come to a football school and not know how to throw a football…ok, you can, but really, you shouldn’t. I, unfortunately, couldn’t break my hand of it’s softball habit enough to get a spin on a football. Then, one lesson from our team captain, and BOOM, I got it! So I just need to keep practicing so I don’t lose the spiral. Also, I finally got the Vulcan “Live Long and Prosper.” My pinky always wanted to bend the wrong way, but no, I wrestled that finger into submission!
What made you happy this week?
It sounds as if you had a great weekend. I had a very simple weekend, doing much of nothing. I had some pizza and watched a movie with my wife, had a friend over for some margaritas, and spent most of Sunday watching football.
It felt so good just to recharge…
I hope your school week goes as well as your weekend.
Hey Jake, I’m glad you’re having fun during your weekends, relaxing is key. I will say I miss working because there’s no homework on weekends. But I’m also alright with being a student for now…
Actually, I have two things that are ABOUT to make me happy…
1. I’m going to sleep one of these days, and
2. I meet with someone tonight re: the creation of a “chap book”.
It’ll be like being published, only not! 🙂
Just stoppin’ in and checkin’ on ya, Katie. Greetings from Mpls!
Pearl, aka Peggy
Hey Peggy, I’m trying to keep up with the craziness around you! And yay on the “chap book.” Remember your posts about toast? I think I might have to write something referencing smells and working productivity. Your toast posts always come to mind.
Happy MBAing!
I know I’m usually pretty cynical about this…but seriously, congratulations. You might be getting blank stares right now (unfortunate) but your classmates are super lucky to have you as a resource. I SO would have done the happy dance if you were in my classes.
Any chance you can get some sort of grant to send you to SXSW this year? That’s my vote! 🙂
Meghan, OMG I’m totally in classes during SXSW, by one week! I think this year isn’t going to work, but I think I’ll see what I can swing for 2012. Unless of course something magical happens and all of a sudden professors are like, Sure! Miss a week of classes to hang out with blogger friends!
Hope all is well with you!!!
